What power consumption do you see then?Tinushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11856561688075441869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4131419324726672281.post-61537846980090032462014-01-10T10:37:09.675+01:002014-01-10T10:37:09.675+01:00According to the WD specs, the drives use 4.1W (re...According to the WD specs, the drives use 4.1W (read/write), 3.0W (idle) and 0.4W (sleep). So you better add 12W for the harddrives alone + some power used of the system. Probably it would be 50..60W.Daniel Leiderthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17052464961644858181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4131419324726672281.post-26721038735479641382014-01-10T10:03:08.404+01:002014-01-10T10:03:08.404+01:00What is your consumption with all drives spinning?...What is your consumption with all drives spinning? I'm probably going to be conservative with the spin down setting as to prolong the service life of the drives.Mats Lundqvistnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4131419324726672281.post-57248154701482909442014-01-10T09:59:54.965+01:002014-01-10T09:59:54.965+01:00Yes, with idle I mean drives spun down (whereas th...Yes, with idle I mean drives spun down (whereas the system drive usually doesn't spin down). As I reported: the highest power consumption was observed during startup and it was at around 88W, which is pretty near to your measured value.Daniel Leiderthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17052464961644858181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4131419324726672281.post-64911687542587292092014-01-10T08:33:53.805+01:002014-01-10T08:33:53.805+01:00By idle, do you mean when then drives are spun dow...By idle, do you mean when then drives are spun down? I just measured power consumption on the n54l running freenas 9, 5x4tb 7,2krpm, 1x40gb ssd, and I got 80w "idle" when disks are still spinning. And that is with no extra peripherals such as wlan.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4131419324726672281.post-79085860705294130322013-08-17T01:54:32.542+02:002013-08-17T01:54:32.542+02:00That is a nice improvement.
